DISCONTINUED. Moonshot AI's open-weight flagship (July 2025), a 1-trillion-parameter mixture-of-experts that activates 32B parameters per token, built for agentic coding and tool use. Released under a Modified MIT license, Kimi K2 is one of the strongest open models for autonomous, multi-step workflows. Moonshot officially discontinued the kimi-k2 series on May 25, 2026; its live model list now carries only kimi-k3, kimi-k2.7, kimi-k2.6 and kimi-k2.5.
