Using Backup Codes

7/6/20260 views

What Backup Codes Are For

When you enable two-factor authentication, LLM.Info gives you a set of backup codes. Each code works once and is meant for times when you cannot get a code from your authenticator app, such as a lost or reset phone.

Using a Backup Code

At the second-factor prompt during sign-in, choose the option to use a backup code instead of an authenticator code, then enter one of your saved codes. Because each code is single-use, it stops working after that sign-in.

Checking How Many Remain

The two-factor section of the Security tab in Settings shows how many backup codes you have left. Regenerate before you run out.

Regenerating Your Codes

  1. Open the Security tab and find the two-factor section.
  2. Enter a current authenticator code in the regenerate field.
  3. Choose Regenerate.

A fresh set of codes is generated and the previous set stops working. Save the new codes somewhere secure.

Lost Both?

If you have lost your authenticator and your backup codes, see Recovering a Lost Authenticator.
