Direct Messaging
Starting a Conversation
Open a member's profile and use the message action, or visit your messages inbox. If you are eligible to message that person, a conversation opens and you can send your first message.
Who You Can Message
To protect members from unwanted contact, several rules must all be met before a conversation can start:
- Your account is at least 7 days old.
- Your email address is verified.
- You and the other member follow each other (mutual follow).
- Neither of you has blocked the other.
- The other member has direct messages enabled in their privacy settings.
If any rule is not met, the message option is unavailable and you will see the reason.
Attachments and Reactions
Messages support text and GIFs. Use the GIF picker to search or browse trending GIFs, which are limited to family-friendly ratings. You can also react to a message with an emoji from the allowed set.
Editing and Deleting
You can edit a message within 15 minutes of sending it, up to 5 times. You can also delete your own messages, which removes their content from the conversation.
