DeepL is the Language AI platform from DeepL SE of Cologne, Germany. The vendor groups its line-up as DeepL Translator ("Translate securely, efficiently, and accurately"), DeepL Write ("Enhance your writing and adapt to your audience"), DeepL Voice ("Converse across languages in real time") and the DeepL API. The translator handles typed text and drag-and-drop PDF, Word (.docx) and PowerPoint (.pptx) documents while preserving formatting, and DeepL ships desktop apps, browser extensions, mobile apps and integrations for Microsoft Word, Microsoft 365 and Google Workspace. DeepL says it is "Trusted by over 200,000 businesses globally" and invites users to "Explore our 100+ languages".

Limitations
- DeepL API Free is capped at 500,000 characters per month
- Image translation is still in Beta; DeepL's docs say beta features "Are not intended to be used in production" and "Could be deprecated by DeepL at any time and without advance notice"
- Free-plan document uploads are small and format-dependent, for example 1 MB for .txt and .json and 150 KB for .srt
- Characters are still counted toward billing when the source and target languages are the same
